Match ResultsDANBURY, Conn. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team (5-10) closed out the 2013-14 campaign with a 7-2 victory at Western Connecticut State University (1-13) Sunday afternoon.
The Knights quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play. Senior
Jaimee Lubniewski (Middletown, N.Y.) and sophomore
Katie Conroy (Middletown, N.Y.) defeated Olivia Mauro and Carine Jacque', 8-4, at first doubles. Senior
Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) and sophomore
Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) took down Angelica Jara and Alisa Yangkod, 8-6, at No. 2, and then sophomore
Ellen Hendricks (West Point, N.Y.) and freshman
Isabella Tartaglione won their flight-three doubles match over Nicoel Salamacha and Nicole Root, 8-3.
Lubniewski closed out her day with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Melissa Osorio at No. 1 singles, while Torre beat Jara at No. 2, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3). Scott picked up a No. 3 singles win over Mauro, 6-2, 6-2, and Hendricks earned the final Knight point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Karen Velez at sixth singles.
The Knights close out their season with a 5-10 record. They qualified for the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament in the fall with a 2-3 conference record, but fell in the semifinal round to Farmingdale State College.
