Match ResultsNEWBURGH, N.Y. – In its first of two spring-season matches, the Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team (4-10) defeated Baptist Bible College (0-14), 9-0, Saturday afternoon on the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts.
Due to a short roster for Baptist Bible, the Knights picked up a point in doubles and singles play before the match began. Senior
Jaimee Lubniewski (Middletown, N.Y.) and sophomore
Katie Conroy (Middletown, N.Y.) defeated Bliss Lecea and Kay Black at No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Senior
Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) and sophomore
Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) shut out Ashlea Swingle and Alyssa Woolford at second doubles, 8-0.
Lubniewski won at first singles, 6-1, 6-1, over Lecea, while junior
Alissa Niad (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) took down Swingle at flight two, 7-5, 6-3. Torre defeated Black at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1, while Scott and sophomore
Ellen Hendricks (West Point, N.Y.) both won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively.
The Knights will play their final match of the 2013-14 academic year on Sunday, April 27, when they travel to Western Connecticut State University. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
