Men’s Lacrosse Suffers 27-5 Defeat at No. 14 Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's lacrosse team (3-5, 1-1 Skyline) faced off with Skyline Conference opponent Montclair State University (8-1, 1-0 Skyline) Saturday afternoon, falling to the 14th-ranked team in Division III men's lacrosse, 27-5, at Sprague Field.
 
Sam Morrissey led the way for the Red Hawks on Saturday, turning in an impressive eight-point effort on six goals and a pair of assists. Marc Scoran netted five for the home team, while Zach Schreck and Alex Hahn each hit the back of the net three times. Schreck added two assists for a five-point afternoon. Michael Schreck led the Red Hawks with three assists. Brad Pietrucha scooped up a game-high 11 ground balls, while Kiel Dietrich caused five turnovers.
 
Five different Knights scored in Saturday's matchup. Junior midfielder David Hobbs (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman attacker Joseph Rizzotti (East Meadow, N.Y.) matched for a team-high two points with a goal and an assist each. Sophomore midfielder CJ Cardo (Merrick, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Sebastian Cina Jr. (Colts Neck, N.J.) and junior midfielder Henry Schof (Montgomery, N.Y.) picked up the other three goals for the Knights. Senior long-stick midfielder Matt Buonocore  and sophomore defender Mike Hargraves (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) matched for the team high with four ground balls.
 
Michael Dorn picked up the win for the Red Hawks, allowing three goals and making one save in 41:04. Junior goalkeeper Connor Haran (Massapequa, N.Y.) suffered the loss, but stopped 19 shots.
 
The Knights look to bounce back on Saturday, April 5, when they host Farmingdale State College in Skyline action at Kaplan Field. The game is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
