Women’s Basketball Drops Non-Conference Matchup to Baruch, 96-58

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team (5-18) dropped a non-conference matchup to Baruch College (18-7), 96-58, Monday evening at the Kaplan Center.

Baruch quickly jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the first seven minutes of the game, eventually improving the advantage to 21 points heading into halftime. The Bearcats' lead surpassed 30 points at the 15:31 mark on a three by Francess Henry, and lead never dipped below 30 points the rest of the way.

Baruch had four scorers in double digits on Monday, with Veronica Ganzi leading the way with 17 points off the bench. Sheridan Taylor picked up a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards, while Kristen Podlovits banked 12 points and dished our four assists. Henry added 11 points and four boards for the Bearcats.

Senior forward Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) scored a game-high 23 points, while junior guard Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) added 14 and dished out four assists. Junior forward Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) put in a solid effort with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Nicole Scicutella (Massapequa, N.Y.) handed out a team-best six assists.

Baruch outrebounded the Knights, 60-27, which includes 32 offensive boards. Baruch's bench played a big role in its win, contributing 54 points.

The Knights return to action on Friday, Feb. 21, when they host Purchase College in at Skyline Conference matchup at the Kaplan Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
