NEWBURGH, N.Y. – After playing to a 33-33 tie in the first half, the Cyclones of Centenary College (N.J.) (4-4) turned in a strong second half to beat the Mount Saint Mary College men's basketball team (1-5) by a score of 69-56 Monday evening at the Kaplan Center.
Centenary opened up the second half with a 17-0 run to take a 50-33 lead just over five minutes into the second frame. The Knights then turned things around, going on a 12-2 run themselves to cut the deficit to seven points. The teams traded baskets up until the final minute of the game, when Centenary made six-straight free throws to hold on for a 13-point win.
The Cyclones were led by Rashaan Spencer, who drained four threes and totaled 14 points on the evening. Zachary Duymich and Andy Charles both scored 11 points. Duymich handed out a game-high six assists, while Charles led all players with nine rebounds.

Daniel Wolff (Holtsville, N.Y.) paced the Knights with 13 points and added three assists. Sophomore forward
Alex Smith (Marlboro, N.Y.) picked up 11 points and grabbed three rebounds, while sophomore guard
Robert Taylor (Wingdale, N.Y.) dished out a team-high four assists.
The Knights were outrebounded, 42-20, and outscored in the paint, 30-18. The Knights played a much better first half, shooting 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the field and 46.15 percent (6-of-13) from three-point range. They finished the game shooting 41.2 percent (21-of-51) and after making just eight field goals in the final period. The Cyclones shot 46.2 percent (24-of-52) on the evening.
The Knights will look to turn things around on Wednesday, Dec. 10, when they host Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference matchup at the Kaplan Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
