Women’s Volleyball Triumphs over Bard, 3-1

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team (12-15) was given a scare, but was able to overcome a scrappy Bard College women's volleyball team (3-24) Tuesday evening to pick up a 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 26-24, 25-17) non-conference victory over the Raptors at the Kaplan Center.

The Knights appeared on pace for a quick victory after taking a 25-19 victory in the opening set. The Raptors came out hot in the second frame, taking an early 9-2 lead that eventually led to a 25-18 win to tie the match.

The Knights swung the momentum back in their favor to take a 21-16 lead late in the third game, but Bard rallied back after a timeout to take the next seven points for a 23-21 lead. The Knights kept their composure and took back control of the match by taking five of the next six points for a 26-24 win. The early part of the fourth set went back and forth, reaching an early 11-11 stalemate. The Knights then went on a 21-1 run to take a 23-12 lead. The Raptors battled back, but the Knights held on for a 25-17 win to seal the deal.
