WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team lost the first of two games in Washington D.C., falling to the Catholic University of America on Saturday by a final score of 2-0. The Knights drop to 0-2 on the year.
The controlled the tempo in the early going, recording each of the first six shots on goal. Sophomore
Shanice Robe (Valley Stream, N.Y.) hit the post with 25 minutes remaining the opening half.
Unfortunately for the Knights, the first shot on goal by Catholic found the back of the net, as Noelle Arcomano drove home a goal from 30 yards out. The home team would add to its lead in the 61st minute with Kate Masson put in a rebound.
For the game, Mount Saint Mary held a 13-8 advantage in total shots, as well as a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal. Catholic goalkeeper Lexi Halperin was up to the task on each of the nine attempts to preserve the shutout.
The Knights continue play tomorrow as they take on Wilkes University at noon.
