Knights Plagued by Turnovers in Non-Conference Loss to Baruch

Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team committed 28 turnovers on its way to a 67-38 defeat at the hands of Baruch College in non-conference action Wednesday night.  The Knights dropped to 15-8 overall, while the Bearcats improved to 21-2.

A close game through the opening 12 minutes, Mount junior Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) banked home a layup at the 7:58 mark to give the Knights a 14-13 advantage.  From there, however, the Bearcats ripped off 15 straight points to take control.  Baruch carried a 28-16 lead into the locker room.

Perrone opened the second half with a bucket to cut the deficit to 10, but Baruch answered with the next 11 points to seize a 39-18 advantage with 13:32 remaining.  The Knights would get no closer than 19 the rest of the way and the Bearcats stretched away for an easy win.

Perrone matched senior Becky Metzger (Point Pleasant, N.J.) with a team-high 10 points for the Mount.  The Knights shot 36.6-percent for the game, but their 28 turnovers resulted in 35 points for Baruch.

The Bearcats were led by 18 points on 8-of-12 from the field from sophomore Alicea Ulmer (Staten Island, N.Y.).  Sophomore Iyana Abrams (New Rochelle, N.Y.) added 17 points on 8-of-11 from the floor, while sophomore Francess Henry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) hit on 4-of-9 from three for 16 points.  Baruch shot 50.0-percent for the game.

The Knights return to Skyline action with a trip to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday.  The game is set for 1:00 p.m. in Riverdale, New York.
