NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Sophomore forward
Shanice Robe (Valley Stream, N.Y.) set a new program record on Wednesday, scoring her 60th career goal to help send the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (15-4-0, 8-0-0 Skyline) to the Skyline Conference Championship finals for the fourth straight season. The Knights shut out The College at Old Westbury (13-8-0, 5-3-0 Skyline), 4-0, at Kaplan Field in Wednesday's semifinal matchup.
In the 36th minute, Robe made program history when she scored off of a pass from junior defender
Danica Sommer (Rutherford, N.J.) that set her up to beat the goalie and send her into the record books.
Junior midfielder
Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, N.Y.) lit the fire that got her team going in the 25th minute when she beat the defender and ripped the ball into the back of the net.
Sophomore midfielder
Melissa Guillemette (Branford, Conn.) placed the ball in the back of the net in the 37th minute off of a pass from junior defender
Julianne DiDonato (Fishkill, N.Y.) to put the Knights up 3-0 at the close of the first half. Guillemette struck again in the 79th minute when she capitalized on a right cross from sophomore midfielder
Courtney McCarthy (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), securing the 4-0 victory for the Knights.
Senior goalkeeper
Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) recorded another shut out for the Mount and made two saves in the win. Panther goalkeeper Caitlin Thomas documented nine saves in the loss.
The Mount outshot Old Westbury 29-3 and held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Knights return to action on Saturday, Nov. 9, when they face the Farmingdale State College Rams in the Skyline Conference Championship Final, which will be held as part of the Skyline Fall Festival that will take place at Kaplan Field. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
