NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team (0-5) fell to SUNY New Paltz (1-4), 69-47, on Tuesday evening at the Kaplan Center.
New Paltz was led Christine Rivera who scored 11 points in Tuesday's match. Teammates Shannan Walker and Jeanette Scott each contributed 10, with Scott grabbing eight rebounds and Walker dishing out a game-high five assists.
The Knights were led by senior forward
Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) and junior guard
Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) who each scored 12, with Perrone grabbing seven rebounds. Sophomore guard
Nicole Scicutella (Massapequa, N.Y.) banked 10 and led the Knights with three assists and eight boards. Senior forward
Jessica Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) contributed seven rebounds and three assists in the loss.
The Hawks shot 38.6 percent from the field, while the Knights shot 24.6 percent. New Paltz out rebounded the Mount, 58-37, and held a 22-7 advantage in second-chance points.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 3, when they travel to the College of Staten Island for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
