Women’s Soccer Falls to Kean, 1-0, in ECAC Semis

Box Score

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (16-6-0) saw its season come to an end on Saturday, as the Knights fell to Kean University (11-6-3), 1-0, in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Region Women's Soccer Tournament semifinals at Kaplan Field.

Kean forward Sam Marchetti scored the lone goal in Saturday's matchup off a feed from Angie Lopez when she was able to beat a group of Knight defenders in the box and poke a shot past the keeper and into the net.

KC Nunez needed just one save to pick up the shutout victory for the Cougars. Senior goalkeeper Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made four saves, but allowed a single goal to shoulder the loss.

Kean held a 10-9 advantage in shots taken, as well as a 5-1 edge in shots on goal. The Cougars also earned three corner kicks to just two for the Knights.

The Knights season comes to an end with an overall record of 16-6-0. Graduating from the team are seniors Jacquelyn Mancini, Tara McDermott (Tewksbury, N.J.) and Brigit Burgio (Riverhead, N.Y.), who were all named to All-Skyline Teams this season.
