Box Score

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Junior defender Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) scored twice in Wednesday's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Region Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal matchup to give the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (16-5-0) a 2-0 victory over Hartwick College (8-8-3) at Kaplan Field and advance the Knights to the tournament semifinals. The win also marked the 100th career victory for head coach Frank Martini over his tenure at the Mount.

Segreto opened the game's scoring with a netter in the 29th minute. She managed to beat a defender in the box and fire left to right to beat the keeper and give the Knights a first-half lead. She added a second goal for good measure in the waning minutes of the game. Sophomore forward Shanice Robe (Valley Stream, N.Y.) fired a shot from the right wing toward the left corner of the net. Segreto jumped the route of the ball and deflected it past the keeper to give the Knights a 2-0 edge. Robe now has 127 points in her two seasons with the Knights, one shy of the program career record.

Senior goalkeeper Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made two saves to earn her 15th win and eighth shutout of the season. Hartwick's Annie Millar stopped seven shots, but allowed two goals to shoulder the loss.

The Knights were firing at will on Wednesday, holding a 26-4 advantage in shots by game's end. They also took 10 corner kicks to just four for the Hawks.

The Knights advance to the ECAC Metro Region Semifinals, where they will take on Kean University. The Knights have reached the Metro Region semifinals in each of the past two seasons. The Mount is looking for its first ECAC Metro Region title.

Mount Saint Mary will host the semifinal and final rounds of the ECAC Metro Region Women's Soccer Tournament. The Mount will take on Kean at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Kaplan Field, while the second semifinal matchup that is yet to be determined will take place at 2 p.m. The two semifinal winners will face off in the tournament finals on Sunday at noon.
