Match Results

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team (2-8, 1-2 Skyline) dropped a 7-2 decision to the College of Staten Island (10-1) on Tuesday on the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts.

Senior Jaimee Lubniewski (Middletown, N.Y.) and junior Alissa Niad (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) played a tough match at top-flight doubles that went to a tiebreaker with CSI's Sabrina Bragerton-Nasert, but eventually fell by a score of 9-8 (7-5). The Knights took the third flight match by default, but senior Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) and sophomore Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) were defeated at No. 2 doubles, 8-3, by Nozima Toshpulatova and Madiha Mulla.

The Mount once again took a match by default, winning the No. 6 singles match, but went on to fall in the other five contests. Lubniewski and Bragerton-Nasert were neck-and-neck in their first-flight match, but the Knights' top player was unable to pull off the comeback, falling 7-5, 6-7, 10-8. Scott was also locked up in a tight match that went to a tiebreaker, but she, too, fell at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 10-4, to Toshpulatova.

The Mount returns to action on Monday, Oct. 14, when they travel down to Purchase College for a Skyline Conference matchup with the Panthers. The match is set to kick off at 3 p.m.
