BRONX, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team (8-13, 3-0 Skyline) took home two victories on Saturday, defeating Maritime College (1-15, 0-4 Skyline), 3-0 (25-16, 25-6, 25-8), and the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (2-9, 1-3 Skyline), 3-1 (25-10, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20), in a Skyline Conference tri-match hosted by Maritime.
Against Maritime, the Knights hit an impressive .325 clip, compared to a -.088 hitting percentage for the Privateers. Freshman setter
Claire Scully (Bloomfield, N.J.) dished out 26 assists in the match, while the kills and digs were spread around evenly amongst the team. Freshman setter
Kristen Maddock (Medford, N.Y.) recorded an impressive seven service aces in Saturday's opener.
Scully topped the opening match with 39 assists against NYU-Poly. Freshman outside hitter
Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) threw down 15 kills, while sophomore middle blocker
Kayla Kurka (Islip, N.Y.) and junior outside hitter
Katie Lynch (Island Park, N.Y.) had 11 each. Sophomore libero
Jen Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) played well defensively, picking up 23 digs.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9, when they host The Sage Colleges in a Skyline matchup at the Kaplan Center. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
