NEWBURGH, N.Y. – With wins at singles and doubles, including the final point of the dual match, sophomore Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) helped lead the Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team (3-9, 2-3 Skyline) to a tight 5-4 Skyline Conference victory over St. Joseph's College (L.I.) (4-6, 1-4 Skyline) on Sunday on the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts. The win pushes the Knights into fourth place in the conference, earning them a berth into the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship Tournament.

Scott and doubles partner senior Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) took a 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles for the only Knights win of the day in doubles play. Scott's No. 4 singles match went to three sets. With the match score tied at 4-4, Scott pulled off a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory to seal the deal for the Knights.

Senior Jaimee Lubniewski (Middletown, N.Y.) defeated St. Joseph's Nancy Marroquin at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Torre took down Rita Wehrli at flight three, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Ellen Hendricks (West Point, N.Y.) also grabbed a win on Sunday, dropping Courtney Timms at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Entering as the four-time defending conference champions, the fourth-seeded Knights will take on top-seeded Farmingdale State College in the semifinal round of the Skyline Tournament. The tournament is set to kick off on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with the Knights traveling to Farmingdale and No. 2 Purchase College hosting No. 3 The Sage Colleges.
