Women’s Volleyball Trumps Yeshiva, 3-0

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team (6-13, 1-0 Skyline) grabbed its first Skyline Conference victory over the season, taking down Yeshiva College (0-1, 0-1 Skyline), 3-0 (25-7, 25-5, 25-10), Wednesday evening at Baruch College.

The Knights hit a very impressive .429 clip on the evening, while holding the Maccabees to a -.143 hitting percentage. The Knights played a very clean match, recording just three errors.

Junior outside hitter Katie Lynch (Island Park, N.Y.) threw down a match-high nine kills in the victory and hit at a .600 clip. Freshman setter Claire Scully (Bloomfield, N.J.) dished out 17 sets to lead the Knights. Junior defensive specialist Brianna Johnston (Breezy Point, N.Y.) recorded six service aces. Yeshiva's Shira Genauer and Shaina Hourizadeh each picked up a match-best eight digs on the evening.

The Mount continues Skyline play on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they participate in a tri-match at Maritime College. The Knights will play Maritime at 11 a.m. before taking on the Polytechnic Institute of New York University at 1 p.m.
