ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Four second-half scores sent the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team (11-4-0) home with a 4-1 non-conference victory over Bard College (4-9-1) Tuesday evening. The win was the Knights' sixth in a row.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, the Knights marched out of the half with a vengeance, scoring in the first 80 seconds of the second frame. Junior midfielder
Michelle Sabogal (Forest Hills, N.Y.) found a loose ball and fired in from eight yards out to knot things up at 1-1 at the 46:20 mark. Just 51 seconds later, junior midfielder
Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, N.Y.) found pay dirt as well, giving the Knights a lead they would not forfeit.
Sophomore forward
Shanice Robe (Valley Stream, N.Y.) added two goals in the final minutes of the game, her 17th and 18th of the season, to push the score to 4-1.
Senior goalkeeper
Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made six saves to pick up the win on Tuesday and improve to 10-4-0 on the season. Bard's Lily Harris stopped three shots, but allowed four goals to shoulder the loss.
Maddy Huggins gave Bard the early 1-0 lead at the 2:35 mark of the game off assists from Mady Calhoun and Brianna Bean.
The Knights held a slight edge in shots on the evening, firing off 15 to the Raptors' 13. Corner kicks were even at two apiece.
The Mount returns to action on Friday, Oct. 18, when they visit Maritime College for a Skyline Conference matchup. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
