OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College ran its winning streak to eight games with a 47-36 win over SUNY College at Old Westbury in a low-scoring Skyline Conference contest Thursday night. The Knights improve to 13-7 overall and to 10-1 inside the Skyline.
The Mount led by ten in the early stages of the second half, but Old Westbury cut the deficit to just four as the clock dipped below ten minutes. Senior
Becky Metzger (Point Pleasant, N.J.) kicked off a 7-0 run for the Knights with a three-pointer at the 9:41 mark and a bucket from sophomore
Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) less than 75 seconds later pushed the Mount lead to 11 at 32-21.
The game would tighten up, however, as the Knights failed to score over the course of the next four minutes. A basket from Old Westbury junior DeAndra Scott (St. Albans, N.Y.) at the 4:08 mark capped an 8-0 run for the Panthers to bring them within three.
Mount senior
Charneice McCullough (Wyandanch, N.Y.) finally broke up the scoring drought, draining a three-pointer at the 3:57 mark to increase the lead back to six (35-29). The Panthers answered with a two-pointer, but the Knights fired right back with the next six points. A fastbreak layup from McCullough at the 2:51 mark made it 41-31, Knights, and the Panthers would get no closer than seven over the game's final minutes.

Lauren Romao (Brick, N.J.) also chipped in with 12 points. Metzger added 10 points and six boards, while sophomore
