Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) scored a game-high 17 points to lead Mount Saint Mary College to a 52-33 victory over the Sage Colleges in Skyline Conference action Saturday. The Knights, who won their fourth straight, moved to 9-7 overall (6-1 Skyline).
MSMC held a 26-13 lead at the break as Perrone had nine of her game-high 17 points in the first stanza. By game's end she was 8-of-15 from the floor and had nine rebounds with a pair of blocks. Senior guard
Becky Metzger (Point Pleasant, N.J.) had 12 rebounds on the afternoon, while handing out three assists with two steals.
Sophomore forward
Natalie Candarelli (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) netted eight points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Knights as they held a 54-38 edge on the boards over the Gators.
Sage's sophomore guard Megan Bowman (Saranac, N.Y.) finished with a team-best 10 points, while adding three assists and five steals. Sophomore center Amie Jefferson (Albany, N.Y.) had seven points with 12 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Junior forward Chelsea Martin (Davenport, N.Y.) and rookie Sara Tironi (Cambridge, N.Y.) each had five points for Sage, while Martin had a pair of blocked shots in the action.
The Gators will be back in action January 22 when they travel to SUNY-Old Westbury for a 5 p.m. Skyline Conference contest. Mt. St. Mary College hosts Purchase College on January 22 in a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference contest.
