NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Junior
Joe Stabach (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the team for the second straight contest, this time scoring 22 points as Mount Saint Mary College defeated Maritime College by a final score of 75-64. The Knights bump up to 9-6 on the year (6-3 Skyline), while the Privateers fall to 1-11 (0-7 Skyline).
The Knights hit four three-pointers in the opening four minutes during a game-opening 14-0 run. Mount Saint Mary pushed the lead to as many as 19 in the early going before settling in for a 41-27 advantage at the half.
The Privateers closed to within eight with a 6-0 run to start the second, but would get no closer. The Knights maintained a comfortable advantage for the remainder of the contest and claimed the 11-point victory.
Stabach hit on 6-of-10 from three and 7-of-11 from the field for a game-high 22 points. Junior
Chris Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) added 11 points, while junior
Joe Henain (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) pitched in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Senior Ron Bethea (Harlem, N.Y.) led Maritime with 20 points. Freshman Kevin Blohm (Staten Island, N.Y.) totaled 14 points, while sophomore Sean Corley (Harlem, N.Y.) contributed 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Mount Saint Mary hosts Purchase on Tuesday, January 22. The game is set to follow the 6:00 p.m. women's game at 8:00 p.m.
