CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – Mount Saint Mary College turned in another dominant performance on Monday afternoon, yielding just ten total games in a nine-match sweep of Baptist Bible College. The Knights improve to 5-0 on the year, while the Defenders fall to 0-8.
Freshman
Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) made her collegiate debut and partnered with junior
Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) for an 8-3 win at third doubles. Senior
Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg (Newburgh, N.Y.) and sophomore
Alissa Niad (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) were perfect in an 8-0 win at first doubles, while freshmen
Morgan Holbrook (Montgomery, N.Y.) and
Ashlynne O'Brien (Washingtonville, N.Y.) matched the 8-0 score in the second position.
Murphy-Goldberg and Holbrook both pitched singles shutouts (6-0, 6-0) at first and second singles, respectively. O'Brien bumped up to third singles and claimed a 6-2, 6-0 win and Torre followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at four. Niad, competing in her first singles match of the season, took home a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles, while Scott picked up her first career singles victory with a 6-0, 6-1 decision at six.
The Knights host William Paterson University on Wednesday. The match is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start in Newburgh.
