Morgan Holbrook (Montgomery, N.Y.), and freshman
Ashlynne O'Brien (Washingtonville, N.Y.) were all double-winners on Monday evening as Mount Saint Mary College (3-0) defeated Ramapo College (3-2) by a final score of 6-3.
The Knights claimed two of three doubles points, as Murphy-Goldberg teamed with junior
Jaimee Lubniewski (Middletown, N.Y.) for an 8-1 win at first doubles and Holbrook/O'Brien claimed an 8-2 victory at second doubles.
Murphy-Goldberg held down the top of the lineup with a 6-2, 6-2 win at one, while Holbrook fought out a tough first set on her way to a 6-3, 6-2 victory at second singles. O'Brien dominated her match at four, running away with a 6-0, 6-0 win. Junior
Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) rounded out the wins for the Mount with a super tiebreaker win at sixth singles. Torre mounted an excellent comeback in the first set to take the opener, 7-5, only to lose the second set, 6-1. The junior won the match tiebreak, 10-8.
The Knights will have one day off before traveling to Bard to take on the Raptors. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
