Knights Shoot Well Again, Rout Hunter

Box Score

NEW YORK, N.Y. - A strong second half sent Mount Saint Mary College to a 66-41 non-conference victory over Hunter College on Tuesday evening in New York.  It was the third win in a row for the Knights, who improved to 4-3 overall.

A five-point game at the break, Mount Saint Mary opened the second half with a 12-0 run to take a 40-23 advantage.  Junior Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) sparked the burst with a jumper in the paint and capped the run with a fastbreak layup.

Hunter would get no closer than 15 the rest of the way and the Knights slammed the door with a 9-0 run late in the period.  Sophomore Rottisha Lewis (Norwalk, Conn.) made back-to-back buckets to make it 62-35 with just 3:21 remaining.

Lewis finished off a monster night with 17 points and 14 rebounds.  The sophomore hit on 7-of-10 from the field.  Perrone also completed a double-double, her first of the year, with 15 points and 10 boards.  Sophomore Amanda Smith (Dayton, Ohio) added 14 points for the Knights.

Junior Nicole Lenard (Maspeth, N.Y.) led the Hawks with 15 points, while junior Kristen Sells (Stony Brook, N.Y.) contributed 11.

The Knights shot 50.0-percent from the field for the second consecutive game while limiting Hunter to just 28.6-percent shooting.  Mount Saint Mary dominated on the glass, 45-24.

The Mount returns to action on Friday, December 7 with a home game against Norwich University.  Game time is set for 6:00 p.m. in the Kaplan Center.
