WAYNE, N.J. - After staying even with the Pioneers through the first half, the Knights watched the game slip away in the opening minutes of the second stanza, as William Paterson erupted for an 18-0 run that spanned four minutes. The game ended with the score 64-54 in favor of the Pioneers. The Mount moves to 5-4 on the year, while the Pioneers advance to 7-3 overall.

Rachel Perrone (Poughquag, N.Y.) knocked down a jumper to put the Knights ahead by two, 33-31. The Pioneers would control the next four minutes, as a three pointer from the hands of senior Lindsey Callandar (Branchburg, N.J.) ignited an 18-0 run that gave the Pioneers a 16 point lead with 15 minutes to play.
Trailing by double digits with under five minutes remaining, sophomore
Amanda Smith (Dayton, Ohio) hit one from downtown to bring the Knights to within seven, 57-50. The Pioneers regained a double digit lead and sealed the win with back-to-back buckets by junior Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J.) and junior Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J.) in the final three minutes.
Mount sophomore
Lauren Romao (Point Pleasant, N.J.) led the way for the Knights with 13 points. Sophomore
Rottisha Lewis (Norwalk, Conn.) and Smith added ten points each. Perrone also reached double digits with 12 points.
Borova had an impressive game, totaling 24 points. Jeter added 17 points and seven rebounds.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday night, as they host Montclair State University for an 8:00 p.m. game.
