SALISBURY, Md. - Making the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, Mount Saint Mary College fell to host Salisbury University in straight sets on Friday evening. The Knights close a spectacular season with a record of 23-12.
With the Knights leading 4-2 in the opening set, Salisbury rattled off the next eight points to take control, eventually taking the opener, 25-11. The Sea Gulls used an early 7-0 run in set two and posted the same 25-11 margin of victory in set two. Salisbury closed out the sweep with a 25-9 win in set three.
For the Mount, senior
Mary Ann Raftery (Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) led the way with four kills, while senior
Lauren Halverson (Patchogue, N.Y.) and sophomore
Katie Lynch (Island Park, N.Y.) added three kills each. Halverson posted nine assists.
Mount Saint Mary closes out a record-setting season that saw the team set a new record for wins in a season and claim the program's first-ever Skyline Conference championship.
