Knights Cruise Past Ramapo, Remain Unbeaten in Last Nine

Box Score

MAHWAH, N.J. – Behind a pair of goals from freshman Shanice Robe (Valley Stream, N.Y.), Mount Saint Mary College cruised to a 4-1 victory over Ramapo College in non-conference action on Wednesday.  The Knights, now unbeaten in their last nine games, improved to 8-2-1 on the year.

Sophomore Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, N.Y.) got things started for the Knights in the 19th minute, converting a penalty kick for a 1-0 advantage.  Robe quickly doubled the advantage with an unassisted tally in the 28th minute.

With her team leading 2-0 at the break, Robe wasted little time in padding the lead.  Just 52 seconds into the second half, the rookie found the back of the net once again, her 14th goal of the season.

Ramapo broke up the shutout with a goal in the 57th minute.  Senior Rebecca Macci (Point Pleasant, N.J.) put home a feed from freshman Isabella Penzato (Saddle Brook, N.J.) to make it a 3-1 deficit for the Roadrunners.

Mount sophomore Kim Castro (Vernon, N.J.) put the game on ice with a goal in the 80th minute, however, making it 4-1, Knights.  The goal was Castro's third of the year.

Junior goalkeeper Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made 10 saves to earn the victory for the Knights.

Mount Saint Mary heads to Farmingdale State College for a rematch with the defending Skyline champions on Saturday.  The Rams defeated the Knights in last year's tournament championship game by a score of 1-0.  Game time is set for a 1:00 p.m. in Farmingdale.
