Knights Capture Fourth Straight Skyline Title

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College defeated Farmingdale State College, 5-0, to claim the Skyline Conference championship for the fourth year in a row.  The Knights finish the fall season at 12-0 and will compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament this spring.

Freshman Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) provided the clinching point for the Knights, claiming a 6-2, 6-3 win at fifth singles.  Fellow freshman Morgan Holbrook (Montgomery, N.Y.) also put a singles point on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number two.

Mount Saint Mary benefited from a quick start, as the team swept all three of the doubles matches.  Scott and junior Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) put the first point on the board, taking an 8-1 decision at number three.  Junior Jaimee Lubniewski (Middletown, N.Y.) and freshman Ashlynne O'Brien (Washingtonville, N.Y.) secured an 8-1 win at number two, while senior Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg (Newburgh, N.Y.) paired with Holbrook to complete the sweep with an 8-3 win at number one.

With four wins in the two postseason matches, Holbrook was named the Skyline Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
