NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team swept the three doubles matches and took five of the six singles matches on their way to an 8-1 victory over Baptist Bible College on Tuesday evening. The Knights are now 2-1 overall.
Senior Annie Llewellyn (Brookhaven, N.Y.) and junior
Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg (Newburgh, N.Y.) kicked things off with an 8-1 victory at first doubles. Juniors
Emily Gregory (Albertson, N.Y.) and
Jen Gregory (Albertson, N.Y.) snagged an 8-4 win at second doubles, while sophomore
Jillian Torre (Bohemia, N.Y.) and freshman
Rachel Visgilio (East Granby, Conn.) teamed for an 8-3 win at third doubles.
Jen Gregory was tested at third singles, eventually pulling out a first set tiebreaker, 7-2. She went on to win the second set by a margin of 6-3. Murphy-Goldberg and freshman
Alissa Niad (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) each won their singles matches by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Up next for the Knights is a home date with Misericordia. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
