Mount Rolls On

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - During a key Skyline Conference quad match, the Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team emerged with a pair of victories and maintained their spot on top of the conference standings.  The Knights held on for a five-set win over Farmingdale (25-12, 19-25, 25-20, 17-25, 15-11) and then defeated Old Westbury in straight sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-20).

Against Farmingdale, the Knights won sets one, three, and five and committed just four combined hitting errors in the three sets.  The team made seven errors in a second set loss and nine in a fourth set loss.

Freshman Taylor Woegens (Bogota, N.J.) finished with a team-high 12 kills and completed a double-double with 17 digs.  Junior Mary Ann Raftery (Long Beach, N.Y.) also reached double figures in a pair of categories, tallying 11 kills and a team-high 19 digs.  The Knights also received a strong effort from junior Lauren Halverson (Patchogue, N.Y.) who finished with 40 assists and 16 digs.

In the sweep of Old Westbury, the Knights combined for 40 kills in three sets.  Raftery and Woegens both tallied 10 kills and Woegens added 16 digs, three aces, and three blocks.

Mount Saint Mary will head to Maritime for another Skyline Conference match on Monday.  Originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m., the match will now start at 7:00 p.m.
