NEWBURGH, N.Y.- Freshman
Kelly Cirimello (Centereach, N.Y.) broke a 0-0 deadlock in the 78th minute with an unassisted goal and the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team went on to defeat The Sage Colleges in a Skyline Conference contest by a score of 2-0. The Knights improved to 9-2-1 overall and a perfect 4-0-0 inside the conference.
On a corner kick in the 78th minute, sophomore
Allie Kleine (Vernon, N.J.) played a dangerous ball into the box that trickled through the crowd in front of the cage to Cirimello who was waiting just past the far post. Cirimello drilled a shot back into traffic and the ball bounced off the fingertips of Sage goalkeeper Brittany McDonald before sneaking just under the crossbar to give the Knights a 1-0 advantage.
Freshman
Marissa Segreto (West Islip, N.Y.) would add an insurance goal in the 82nd minute with a great shot from 25 yards out. Segreto ripped off a shot from the center of the field that beat McDonald to the top left corner of the net.
Despite a slow first half, the Knights tallied 32 shots on the game. Sophomore goalkeeper
Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished with one save and McDonald tallied ten saves on the night.
Mount Saint Mary will host New Jersey City University in a non-conference tilt on Thursday night. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
