Knights Rain on Ramapo

NEWBURGH, N.Y. -  Freshman Vanessa DiSilvio (Massapequa, N.Y.) netted a goal just four minutes into the game and the Knights never looked back en route to a convincing 3-0 win over Ramapo College. The Mount remains unbeaten at home and improves to 15-2-1 overall, while the Roadrunners fall to 3-9-2 on the season.

With just three minutes and thirty-four seconds elapsed, sophomore Allie Kleine (Vernon, N.J.) played a cross from the right side of the field to DiSilvio. Kleine's cross slipped through the hands ofRamapo goalkeeper Talia Auslin and DiSilvio finished into the empty net.

Ramapo's best scoring chance of the night came in the 67th minute, when junior Rebecca Maccia fired a shot from the top of the box just wide of the net.

In the 78th minute of play, sophomore Sara Sheehan (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) almost increased the lead to two, but her shot ricocheted off the post. Sheehan's shot rebounded to the feet of freshman Trish LaSasso (Middlesex, N.J.)  and LaSasso redirected the ball to the far post to move the score to 2-0 in the Knights' advantage. Sheehan netted the third goal of the game just a minute after LaSasso's goal. Freshman Megan Schweitzer (Thiells,N.Y.) crossed the ball from the right side of the field to Sheehan, who then placed the ball right under the crossbar for the final goal of the game.

Mount sophomore goalkeeper Jacquelyn Mancini (Valley Stream, N.Y.) did not need to make a save in earning her eighth shutout of the year. Ramapo goalkeeper Talia Auslin tallied 12 saves in defeat.
