Mocanu Excels in Return to the College of Mount Saint Vincent

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - In her return to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, junior transfer Jen Mocanu (Belford, N.J.) scored a game-high 17 points to lead Mount Saint Mary College to a 73-46 victory in Skyline Conference action on Friday evening. The Knights improved to 14-2 overall (10-0 Skyline), while the Dolphins dropped to 6-9 (4-7 Skyline).

Leading by just three as the clock ticked under eight minutes remaining in the first half, the Knights scored the next 14 points and closed the period on a 17-4 run to lead 36-20 at the break. The Mount would push the lead to as many as 30 in the second half before settling in for a 27-point victory.

Mocanu hit on 6-of-10 attempts from the field and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line on her way to leading all scorers. Senior Jess Tice (Altamont, N.Y.) and sophomore Kate Hartnett (Floral Park, N.Y.) each added 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Senior Kerry O'Connor (Bethpage, N.Y.) led Mount Saint Vincent with 15 points on 5-of-10 from the field.

The Knights, who shot 41.5-percent from the field as a team, held a 46-29 advantage on the glass. The visitors collected 19 offensive rebounds in the contest.

It will be a short turn-around for the Mount, as they'll travel to St. Joseph's College for a Skyline Conference tilt on Saturday. The tip is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. as part of a double-header with the men's game.
