Morris Leads Mount to Season Sweep of Sage

ALBANY, N.Y. – Behind a game-high 16 points from senior Tim Morris (Greenwich, N.Y.), Mount Saint Mary College defeated Sage in Skyline Conference action Thursday by a score of 63-50. The Knights improved to 9-5 overall (7-2 Skyline), while the Gators tumbled to 5-8 overall (3-6 Skyline).

A sloppy first half saw both teams shoot under 30.0-percent from the field, but the Knights managed a 21-18 advantage at the break. Mount Saint Mary opened the second half on an 8-2 run and led by nine following a three-pointer from sophomore Lenny Ragaglia (Staten Island, N.Y.). The Knights controlled play from there, pushing the lead to as many as 20 before settling in for the 13-point victory.

Morris made 7-of-11 attempts from the field and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go along with his 16-point effort. Junior Kevin Milella (Floral Park, N.Y.) was the only other Knight to reach double figures, finishing with 12.

Sage senior Derick Faragon (Rotterdam Junction, N.Y.) led all scorers with 19 points and rounded out his double-double with 10 boards. Sophomore Ryan Sager (Stuyvesant, N.Y.) added 10 points, while senior forward Lamont Garland (Albany, N.Y.) contributed nine points off the bench.

The Knights fared much better in the second half, connecting at a 50.0-percent clip from the field. Sage also found the range in the second stanza, hitting 13-of-28 attempts (46.4-percent). Mount Saint Mary held a 46-37 advantage on the glass.

Up next for the Mount is a strong Skyline Conference test at Purchase College on Saturday. The Knights will take on the defending conference champion Panthers in a noon start on January 15.
