CORAM, N.Y. – In their first game back on the East coast since their trip to California, the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team looked to bring home a conference win against St. Joseph's College Golden Eagles in their push for the play-offs. The Knights played hard, but couldn't capitalize in the 1-0 loss. The Golden Eagles improved to 11-6-1 overall and 8-1 in conference play while the Knights fell to 8-8 overall and to 4-3 in the conference.
The only goal was scored in the thirty-ninth minute by St. Joseph's freshman Samantha Garcia (Central Islip, N.Y.). It was a one touch rocket from twenty-five yards out in the middle of the box.
Mount senior goalkeeper
Megan Cotta (Brick, N.J.) recorded four saves in the game, which brings her to eighty-one saves for the season.
Sophomore
Lindsey Oro (Holtsville, N.Y.) and freshman
Tara McDermott (Tewksbury, N.Y.) had great looks at the net but couldn't get a shot past junior goalkeeper Michelle Gulino (East Setauket, N.Y.), who recorded two saves in the game.
The Knights continue conference play by hosting Bard College on Thursday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m.
