Tice Guides Blue Knights to Victory

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Mount Saint Mary College junior Jess Tice (Altamont, N.Y.) recorded 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists to lead the Blue Knights to a 57-40 victory over the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline Conference action Wednesday night. Tice's squad improved to 14-4 overall (11-1 Skyline), while the Dolphins fell to 10-7 (7-4 Skyline).

Mount Saint Mary limited Mount Saint Vincent to just three field goals in the first half and led 34-15 at the break. The Blue Knights pushed the lead to as many as 24 in the second half, but the Dolphins closed the game on a 7-0 run to make the final score, 57-40.

Tice was a big part of the first half dominance for the Mount, as she posted a double-double (11 points, 12 rebounds) in the first twenty minutes. The junior finished with game-highs in points and rebounds while turning in her most complete game of the season.

Also pitching in for the Mount was senior Shannon Sangster (Syracuse, N.Y.), who tallied 12 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists. Junior Amanda Horvers (Kingston, N.Y.) connected three times from behind the arc to finish with 9 points. Senior Catie Biordi (Beacon, N.Y.) drained two triples and had 8 points.

Mount Saint Vincent senior Jill Brady (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with 15 points. Senior Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the next highest scorer at 9 points. As a team, Mount Saint Vincent shot just 20-percent for the game.

Up next for the Blue Knights is Sage. Mount Saint Mary will take on the Gators at 6:00 p.m. on February 3 in Troy, New York.
