WILKES BARRE, PA – To open up their season, the Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team went 1-3 at the King's College Invitational over the weekend.
The Blue Knights lost their opening match to King's College, 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-14). Sophomore
Teresa Sorrentino (Bellerose, N.Y.) led the way with 8 kills for the Mount.
Mount Saint Mary picked up their only win of the tournament in the second match of Friday's action. The Blue Knights took the first two sets from Marywood University (27-25, 25-23) before dropping the next two (25-19, 27-25). In a decisive fifth set, the Mount eventually prevailed, 15-6. Heather Schaeffer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) racked up 24 digs.
On Saturday, the Blue Knights lost a pair of straight set matches. In the first match of the day, Mount Saint Mary lost to Wilkes (25-13, 26-24, 25-18). Match two saw much of the same, with the Blue Knights going down to Misericordia (25-11, 25-19, 25-13).
Up next for the Mount is their home opener on Thursday, September 10. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
