Blue Knights Settle for Tie

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – Senior Lauren Dorsa (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored her fifth goal of the season and junior Megan Cotta (Brick, N.J.) made 12 saves as the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team earned a 1-1 tie with Bard College. The Blue Knights move to 2-4-1 on the season.

Dorsa found the back of the net right before the end of the first half. Sophomore Gable Herczeg (Bethel, Conn.) was credited with an assist on the play.

The Blue Knights made the goal stand up into the final twenty minutes of play, but Bard found the equalizer in the 74th minute. Freshman Lauren Dorsey-Spitz (Pueblo, Colo.) tied the game at one with an assist from freshman Margaux Malekian (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.).

Both teams had opportunities in the closing minutes of regulation, but neither could tally the game winner. The Blue Knights went without a shot in the extra sessions, but Cotta was forced to come up with three saves in overtime to preserve the tie. Freshman Lena James (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with four saves for the Raptors.

The Blue Knights continue Skyline Conference play this weekend as they host SUNY College at Old Westbury. The game will be played on Kaplan Field beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
