Blue Knights Rout Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY –Limiting Bard College to just 15-percent shooting from the field, the Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team earned a 67-21 victory in Skyline Conference action on Thursday evening. The Blue Knights improved to 18-4 overall and to 15-0 in the conference while the Raptors dropped to 3-19 overall and to 1-14 in league play.

The Mount rushed out to a twelve point lead, scoring fourteen of the game's first sixteen points. After the Raptors closed back to within single digits (18-9 with 7:18 to go), the Blue Knights closed the half on a 15-4 run and carried a 33-13 advantage into the locker room.

Mount Saint Mary scored the first sixteen points of the second half and didn't allow the Raptors a single point during the first ten minutes. Bard finally got on the board with 9:27 remaining when sophomore Blaire Moldenhauer (Albany, Mo.) banked home a layup. The Raptors connected on just three field goals in the second half and scored just eight points.

Junior Meredith Paggi (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) led the Blue Knights with 14 points. Junior Shannon Sangster (Syracuse, N.Y.) totaled 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor. Freshman Natalie Garbie (Bayville, N.J.) finished with 9 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.

Moldenhauer led Bard with 8 points. The Raptors shot just 9-for-60 from the floor in the contest.

Up next for the Blue Knights is a road trip to St. Joseph's College on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Patchogue, N.Y.
