NEWBURGH, N.Y. – Sophomore
Amanda Horvers (Kingston, N.Y.) led all scorers with 16 points as the Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team defeated Yeshiva, 82-16. The Blue Knights are now 8-2 overall and 5-0 inside the Skyline Conference, while the Maccabees are now 2-9 overall (0-7 Skyline).
Mount Saint Mary scored the first nine points of the game and led 43-5 at the half. The Blue Knights opened the second half on a 12-0 run and continued to extend their lead throughout the final twenty minutes.
Sophomore
Beth Deer (Guilderland, N.Y.) scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Freshman
Charneice McCullough (Wyandanch, N.Y.) and senior
Shannon Sangster (Syracuse, N.Y.) also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Senior Jaclyn Ramras (Woodmere, N.Y.) led Yeshiva with 7 points. Senior Lauren Kempin (Fair Lawn, N.J.) put in a strong effort, recording 7 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
The Maccabees made just one field goal in the first half and finished the game shooting 22.2% from the field. Mount Saint Mary shot 42.9% and forced 42 turnovers by Yeshiva.
The Blue Knights will have a week off before hosting William Paterson on Monday, December 21. The Pioneers were ranked 16th in the last national poll. Game time is 7:00 p.m. in the Kaplan Center.
