Volleyball Loses in Four

NEWBURGH, NY – Closing out the regular season with a non-conference match, the Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team lost to Misericordia University in four sets (25-13, 25-18, 24-26, 25-11) on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Knights finish the regular season at 17-14.

Freshman Mary Ann Raftery (Long Beach, N.Y.) provided a bright spot for the Blue Knights, closing the match with a team-high 10 kills while also tallying 9 digs. Senior Katie Toole (Wallkill, N.Y.) edged closer to the 2,000 career assist mark with 31 more, leaving her just nine assist shy of the milestone. Sophomore Heather Schaeffer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) picked up 27 digs, her second highest total of the season.

With 17 victories during the regular season, the Blue Knights set a program record for wins in a season. The previous record was 16 (1994 & 1999).

Mount Saint Mary enters the Skyline Conference tournament as the fourth seed. The Blue Knights will host the College of Mount Saint Vincent in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday, November 4 at a time to be determined.
