PURCHASE, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team collected a point in the Skyline Conference standings with a 2-2 tie against Purchase College on Thursday night. The Blue Knights moved to 7-6-2 overall (3-1-2 Skyline) and the Panthers are now 7-5-2 overall (5-2-1 Skyline).
All of the scoring occurred within the first 25 minutes of the contest as the teams would play the final 85 minutes deadlocked in a 2-2 tie. Purchase opened up a two goal lead with tallies in the 3rd minute and the 11th minute, but the Blue Knights responded with goals in the 20th minute and the 25th minute.
Senior
Lauren Dorsa (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored her fifteenth goal of the season in the 20th minute to cut the Purchase lead in half. Dorsa was assisted on the play by senior
Danielle Bucco (Washingtonville, N.Y.). Bucco would also be credited with an assist on the game tying goal by sophomore
Erin McKeon (Watertown, Conn.) in the 25th minute.
Mount Saint Mary senior
Megan Cotta (Wall, N.J.) recorded five saves for the Blue Knights. Purchase freshman Shea Macagnone (Farmingdale, N.Y.) finished with eight saves, including three stops in the second period of overtime.
Up next for the Blue Knights is St. Joseph's College. Mount Saint Mary will host the Golden Eagles on Saturday, October 24 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Blue Knights can clinch a berth in the Skyline Conference tournament with a victory.
