NEWBURGH, NY - The Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 9-0 defeat of Yeshiva University. The Blue Knights remain perfect at 15-0 overall and 8-0 inside the Skyline Conference.
The Blue Knights didn't drop a game in three doubles matches, blowing past Yeshiva with scores of 8-0 in all three positions. Freshman
Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg (Newburgh, N.Y.) paired with sophomore
Annmarie Llewellyn (Brookhaven, N.Y.) at first doubles, while junior
Rebecca Schwartz (New Windsor, N.Y.) and senior
Caitlin Giordano (Walden, N.Y.) teamed up at second doubles. Freshmen
Emily Gregory (Albertson, N.Y.) and
Linnea Mowat (Cornwall, N.Y.) were victorious at third doubles.
In singles action, Murphy-Goldberg, junior
Lindsay Searle (Unionville, Conn.), and Llewellyn didn't drop a game in singles matches at first, second, and fourth singles, respectively. Schwartz was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at fourth singles.
Mount Saint Mary enters the Skyline tournament as the top seed. They'll host a semifinal match on Saturday, weather permitting.
