BRONXVILLE, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team rebounded nicely from a tough weekend, defeating Sarah Lawrence College in straight sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-16) on Monday evening. The Blue Knights improved to 13-11 overall.
Freshman
Mary Ann Raftery (Long Beach, N.Y.) led the Blue Knights with 9 kills, while junior
Elizabeth Douress (Rahway, N.J.) pitched in with 8 kills and 3 blocks. Senior
Katie Toole (Wallkill, N.Y.) collected 28 assists on just 58 attempts (43.1%). Defensively, sophomore
Heather Schaeffer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) led the way with 10 digs. The sophomore has had 10 or more digs in 22 of the team's 24 matches this season.
The Blue Knights will get some much-needed time off before Saturday's home tri-match with Vassar College and Bard College. The matches on Saturday will be Dig Pink, a breast cancer awareness event, with all donations to benefit the Side-out Foundation. Play begins at 11:00 a.m. and fans are encouraged to wear pink.
