BROOKLYN, NY – Up against the top two teams in the Skyline Conference, the Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday, losing in four sets to the Polytechnic Institute of NYU and in three sets to the Sage Colleges. The Blue Knights fell to 12-11 overall and back to 3-3 inside the conference.
Mount Saint Mary took the first set from NYU-Poly, 25-22, before losing the next two (25-16, 25-21). In the fourth set, the score ran to 24-24 before the Blue Jays took the next two points to clinch the match. Junior
Elizabeth Douress (Rahway, N.J.) led the Mount with 10 kills and 5 aces. Senior
Katie Toole (Wallkill, N.Y.) finished with 27 assists and sophomore
Heather Schaeffer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) posted a team-high 20 digs.
Sage swept the Blue Knights in straight sets (25-15, 25-21, 25-18). Sophomore
Courtney Kenney (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Douress tied for a team high with 7 kills. Freshman
Lauren Halverson (Patchogue, N.Y.) totaled 3 kills, 3 blocks, and 11 digs.
Mount Saint Mary travels to Sarah Lawrence on Monday for a 7:00 p.m. start.
