Jennifer Gregory Clinches 5-4 Win For Blue Knights

MAHWAH, NJ – Tied a four and with the entire match riding on her result, Mount Saint Mary freshman Jennifer Gregory (Albertson, N.Y.) held on for a 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) victory to send the Blue Knights to a 5-4 victory over Ramapo College on Wednesday night. The Blue Knights improved to 7-0 on the season.

Gregory also came up big in the doubles competition, teaming with twin sister Emily Gregory (Albertson, N.Y.) for a 9-8 (7-3) win at third doubles. The Mount would go on to sweep the doubles play, getting victories from freshman Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg (Newburgh, N.Y.) and sophomore Annmarie Llewellyn (Brookhaven, N.Y.) at first doubles and from junior Rebecca Schwartz (New Windsor, N.Y.) and senior Caitlin Giordano (Walden, N.Y.) at second doubles. Murphy-Goldberg/Llewellyn were an 8-2 winner while Schwartz/Giordano prevailed in a tiebreak, 9-8 (7-3).

Despite trailing 4-1 early in her match at first singles, Murphy-Goldberg rallied to take the first set 7-5. Using an effective slice, the freshman cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set.
