NEWBURGH, NY – Extending their streak of shutout victories to four, the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team defeated Yeshiva University by a score of 10-0 on Tuesday evening. Sophomore
Kristen Maggio (Smithtown, N.Y.) and freshman
Erin McKeon (Watertown, Conn.) each scored a pair of goals as the Blue Knights improved to 5-2 overall and remained undefeated in Skyline play at 2-0.
Maggio started the scoring in the eighth minute by heading in a perfect cross from junior
Danielle Bucco (Washingtonville, N.Y.). McKeon then scored back-to-back goals within a span of 22 seconds in the 11th minute, placing her name in the NCAA record books. The 22 seconds in between goals was the tenth shortest time in NCAA history.
Senior
Marissa Cannella (Cornwall, N.Y.) added a goal in the 12th minute, launching a shot from outside 25 yards that snuck underneath the crossbar. Bucco tallied her eighth goal of the season in the 13th minute and then Maggio scored her second goal of the game at 15:03, giving the Blue Knights five goals in a span of less than five minutes.
Senior
Amy Ventimiglia (Patchogue, N.Y.) put in her first goal of the season in the 25th minute and then junior
Lauren Dorsa (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored her fifth of the year in the 26th minute.
Freshmen
Colleen Cappadora (Goshen, N.Y.) and
Alexi Pascale (Monroe, N.Y.) each scored their first collegiate goal in the game. Cappadora's came in the 41st minute and Pascale got on the board in the 60th minute.
The Blue Knights launched 49 shots in the game and held the Maccabees without a shot.
Up next for Mount Saint Mary is another Skyline Conference contest, this time against Maritime College. The Blue Knights will host the Privateers on Saturday, September 27 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
