EDGEWATER, NJ – The Mount Saint Mary College women's tennis team opened up their Skyline Conference schedule with a 9-0 victory over Yeshiva University on Wednesday evening. The Blue Knights improved to 3-0 overall and to 1-0 in the Skyline. Yeshiva dropped to 2-3 overall.
Sophomore
Lindsay Searle (Unionville, Conn.) and junior
Rebecca Schwartz (New Windsor, N.Y.) were challenged at first doubles, but came through with an 8-4 victory. Juniors
Danielle Kehoe (Goshen, N.Y.) and
Caitlin Giordano (Walden, N.Y.) prevailed 8-0 at second doubles while freshmen
Annmarie Llewellyn (Brookhaven, N.Y.) and
Shakira Alston (Bronx, N.Y.) matched their score at third doubles.
Searle, Kehoe, and junior
Laura Wolons (Middletown, N.Y.) didn't allow a game at first, third, and sixth singles, respectively. Giordano was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at fifth singles and Schwartz was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at second. Llewellyn took a 6-3 first set and then rolled to a 6-0 win in the second set.
The Blue Knights return to action on Saturday as they host Purchase College, a top team in the Skyline Conference. The match is scheduled to start at noon in Cronomer Park.
