OLD WESTBURY, NY – Junior
Lauren Dorsa (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored both goals on Saturday afternoon as the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team earned a 2-0 decision over Old Westbury in the Skyline Conference opener for the Blue Knights. The Mount improved to 3-2 overall while the Panthers dropped to 1-2.
Dorsa's first goal came in the final minute of the first half with assists from freshman
Colleen Cappadora (Goshen, N.Y.) and sophomore
Kristen Maggio (Smithtown, N.Y.). She scored the second goal in the 66th minute on a pretty feed from freshman
Colleen Ryan (Point Lookout, N.Y.). Ryan crossed the ball at a perfect height for Dorsa to head it past the goalkeeper.
Senior goalkeeper
Jessica Thibault (Watertown, Conn.) made seven saves to pick up her second shutout of the season.
The Blue Knights have a few days off before their next scheduled contest, a home date with Mitchell College on September 16. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
