POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Taking on Vassar and Manhattanville at the Hudson Valley Tournament, the Mount Saint Mary College women's volleyball team dropped both matches to fall to 5-13 overall. The Blue Knights lost in straight sets to Vassar and then in five sets to Manhattanville.
Against Vassar, the game scores were 25-14, 25-14, and 25-22. Junior Melissa Ribeiro (Yonkers, N.Y.) led the team with five kills and two blocks while sophomore Liz Douress (Rahway, N.J.) contributed two kills and three blocks.
After taking the first set against Manhattanville, 25-15, the Blue Knights dropped the next two, 25-20 and 26-24. The Mount rebounded to win the fourth by a score of 25-20 but fell in the fifth set, 15-13.
Freshman Courtney Kenney (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished with 18 kills and 12 digs while freshman Teresa Sorrentino (Bellerose, N.Y.) had 10 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Heather Schaeffer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) finished with a team-high 27 digs.
The Blue Knights will have Sunday off before hosting Marywood University on Monday. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start in the Kaplan Center.
