Blue Knights Even Skyline Record

Newburgh, N.Y. – A first half goal from freshman Kristen Maggio (Smithtown, N.Y.) proved to be the game-winner as the Mount Saint Mary College women's soccer team went on to defeat SUNY Maritime College and even their record within the Skyline Conference at 1-1. The Blue Knights went on to score three second half goals on their way to a 4-0 victory.

MSMC controlled play for the entire ninety minutes, allowing the Privateers only three shots, none of them on goal. At the other end, the Blue Knights fired 27 shots resulting in four goals and eleven saves by the Maritime goalkeeper.

Maggio's game-winner was unassisted at the 14:26 mark of the first half. In the second half, the Blue Knights got goals from sophomore Lauren Dorsa (Massapequa Park, N.Y.), sophomore Danielle Bucco (Washingtonville, N.Y.) and freshman Anne Siemon (Watertown, Conn.). Maggio picked up an assist on the Bucco goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Megan Cotta (Point Pleasant, N.J.) picked up her third shutout of the year and didn't even need to make a save to preserve the clean sheet.

On the year, Mount Saint Mary improved to 7-2 overall. Maritime dropped to 0-6 and is now 0-2 in the Skyline Conference. The Blue Knights host non-conference foe, Utica College, on Tuesday evening at Kaplan Field. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
